They’ve been doing well, all of them. Ben has settled into therapy, properly this time without throwing a schoolboy tantrum like he’s been known to do in the past, and he’s finally accepting its usefulness. He’s even started looking into therapy for Lexi, too, since he doesn’t want her to end up with as much repressed trauma as him, and Callum can only support that. All he wants in life is to see his two favourite people recover and get better.
For the most part, he’s getting his wish. Every day, he sees progress from both of them, whether that’s Lexi being able to talk about her mum without bursting into an endless fit of tears or Ben walking past the Albert without shaking. It’s a slow process, and he knows he’s got his own dark demons that need progressing past, too—he still has nightmares on occasion, about what happened to him back in the day, about what happened to Ben, to Lola, and though he isn’t actively in therapy, he’s got the techniques he needs and a contact on hand if necessary.
But for all of them, progress isn’t linear.
