Despite how often his name was invoked, the threat of Lord Solo seemed impotent, as there was never any real weight behind it—he had never made any contact with her, nor made any attempts to visit, nor expressed any intention whatsoever to make good on their betrothal.
Rey therefore felt safe in ignoring all mention of him and their supposed future marriage, one that had been planned since her birth, although the notion of it hovered in the backdrop of her future like the shadow from a dark rain cloud on the horizon, omnipresent but thankfully never daring to approach any nearer.
